Horace Greeley High School

Chappaqua, NY

Horace Greeley High School (HGHS) was investing in the school’s future by implementing a wide variety of new technologies to lower energy costs and improve sustainability. Most of these measures were installed behind the walls of the building, and HGHS wanted to shed light, both literally and figuratively, on their forward-thinking efforts by including outdoor street lights in their energy mix. UGE’s Sanya SLS lighting systems (now the Illumient Advertising Light Pole) provided the school with the perfect solution to achieve their goals.

These outdoor lights are powered by renewable energy, visually highlighted through integrated solar panels and vertical axis wind turbines. The lighting systems also include a customizable sail, which HGHS used to promote school spirit with their logo. Beyond the aesthetic appeal of these features, the lights provide the parking lot with additional lighting and offsets 650 kWh of energy per year -- the equivalent of 1.4 barrels of oil or 68 gallons of gasoline.

HGHS is another shining example of Illumient's Smart Off-Grid lighting providing reliable solar lighting.
